TRS Care is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Houston, Texas, founded by a group of medical professionals who believe true healing begins with holistic care of an individual. We help cancer patients qualify for high quality wigs, breast prostheses, mastectomy supplies, post-surgical garments, and lymphedema compression wear through their insurance. We work directly with insurance providers to verify eligibility and file claims on behalf of our patients.

A cranial prosthesis aka medical wig is considered a durable medical equipment for patients who are experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions or treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. Depending on your policy, your insurance company may cover between 80% - 100% of the cost of your medical wig with a prescription from your physician.

Our process is quite simple and easy:

Step 1: Once you've filled out our Qualify through Insurance form, we get in touch with your insurance company and verify your eligibility with them.

Step 2: We will reach out to you to let you know your coverage amount, help you obtain a prescription from your physician, and assist you in selecting a wig that is perfect for you and fully covered by your insurance.

Step 3: We will ship your wig out right to your doorstep and take care of all the work for you. We will submit a claim and all necessary paperwork with your insurance on your behalf. 

We are currently in network with Tricare and ChampVA.

Since each insurance plan and individual coverage is different, we have a rigorous procedure in place to confirm your eligibility and coverage amount to make sure our patients do not have any out-of-pocket costs for their wigs. We use the insurance information you provide to call your insurance provider and ask them coverage questions specific to your policy.

Once we have a pre-approval from them and an allowed coverage amount, we reach back out to you and let you know that coverage amount so you can pick a wig based on what you are covered for, so you don’t have to pay out of pocket. We then ship out your wig to your door, and do all the necessary paperwork to file the claim with your insurance on your behalf.

Yes! Insurance companies require to you provide them with a prescription for a "cranial prosthesis" by an authorized physician. If you do not have one, then we will work with you and your doctor to obtain a valid prescription for your Wig/Cranial Prosthesis. If you already have a prescription, please send it to us via email at hello@trscare.org or fax at 346-674-3067. Once we receive your prescription, we will review it to verify if it meets the requirements outlined by your insurance.
